America’s Farmers Grow Communities program, sponsored by the Bayer Fund, partners with farmers to support nonprofit organizations to strengthen rural communities. At the May 2019 high school graduation awards ceremony Harrison County farmer Bob Price directed $2,500 to the South Harrison scholarship fund. This financial support was awarded to five students who wish to further their education.
Brooklyn Virtue is attending University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg.
Peyton Spurling is attending Missouri Western State University, St. Joseph.
Cody Weller is attending Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville.
Taya Kirk is attending North Central Missouri College in Trenton.
Jerika Price is attending Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville.
All five students achieved several dual credit college courses during their senior year at South Harrison.
Started in 2010, the America’s Farmers program has awarded over $50 million to strengthen rural communities partnering with farmers in their area. Visit www.americasfarmers.com to learn more.
Mr. Price, a 1975 South Harrison graduate, stated “Helping students get an education is a gift that lasts a lifetime.” He hopes in turn they will help their community excel in the future.
