Firemen attack a stubborn fire that extensively damaged a home at 611 South 23rd Street, north of the Bethany Elementary School, on Friday morning. A fireman used a ladder to get water on the fire in the attic area, while others chopped a hole in the roof to get the hose into burning areas. Firemen from Bethany, New Hampton and North Harrison and the NTA ambulance crew spent several hours on the scene. At first, there was concern that the resident, Guy Campbell, was in the house, but he was located traveling out of town.
