From boathouse to gymnasium: The venerable Ridgeway Field House has hosted hundreds of basketball games and community and school events since it opened in the early 1950s. The building was constructed from material originating in an old boathouse on a river near Quincy, Ill.

Nearly 70 years ago, a group of Ridgeway citizens traveled to Quincy, Ill., to begin tearing down an old Army surplus boathouse that would become the framework for the Ridgeway Field House, a landmark gymnasium that has served the school for many years.
