Fallen Marine: Marine PFC Cecil Davis was killed 55 years ago this month in the battle for Hill 881n near Khe Sanh, South Vietnam.
Volunteered to serve his country: Charles Cecil Davis volunteered for the Marines after some of his classmates at South Harrison High School were drafted into military service in the Vietnam War. Cecil explained to his family that he didn’t want to be left behind. Here he is pictured in a group photo with some of his comrades. He was killed shortly after near Khe Sanh.
Bethany, MO: Charles Cecil Davis was just out of high school in Bethany when he enlisted in the U.S. Marines on May 4, 1966, at the recruiting office in Kansas City.
