Jerry Dean Stevens, an 83 year old Bethany, MO resident, passed away at 5:41 p.m., Friday, June 12, 2020 at Liberty Hospital.
He is to be cremated with memorial services at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Martin Cemetery and left with or mailed to Slater Neal Funeral Home in Trenton.
Jerry Dean Stevens was born December 29, 1936 in Trenton, MO to Edward and Viola (Corbin) Stevens. On June 4, 1961 he was united in marriage to Bettie Alice Shaw in Princeton, MO. Jerry worked for many years as a bus mechanic for Princeton High School and then as a janitor at the school. He later worked in maintenance at Premium Standard in Princeton. Through most all of his life he also farmed around the Princeton area. Every year Jerry and Bettie looked forward to taking a vacation in the Rocky Mountains. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping, and did all these until his health would not allow. He was also a talented musician, playing the guitar and other instruments with his family.
Surviving relatives include his wife of Bethany, sons Jeremy Stevens and his companion Becky Anderson of Princeton, and James Stevens of Independence, MO, and grandsons Jeff and Kirby Stevens, and Alex Anderson. Those preceding him in death include his parents, brothers George and Clifford, and sisters Elva Mae Betz and Lucille Wilson.
