A large American flag flies from the Bethany Fire Department’s ladder truck to welcome Donar Jordan back home after four months of hospitalization after he suffered serious burns while fighting a grass fire on March 8 northwest of Bethany. Donar and two other New Hampton firefighters were injured while attempting to control a fire that burned hundreds of acres of farmland. Donar was flown by medical helicopter to the University of Kansas Medical Center where he was treated in the hospital’s burn unit. The two other firemen were less seriously injured when the fire engulfed a New Hampton fire truck.
