Harrison County, MO: Highway crews and emergency services are preparing for dangerous weather conditions later in the week when a major winter storm is expected to hit Northwest Missouri.
The National Weather Service forecasts up to two inches of snow to fall early this week resulting in slick spots developing on area roadways.
The heaviest snow isn’t expected to hit until Wednesday into Thursday. Several inches of snowfall, bitter cold and strong winds will make for hazardous travel conditions later this week.
This also makes a white Christmas possible for Sunday, Dec. 25.
Below normal temperatures are expected for the next several days Temperatures will fall during the day on Thursday with wind chill values falling to -20 and -39 on Thursday afternoon and evening. Friday’s low is expected to be minus 13.
City Administrator Jake Taylor said Monday morning that the city has not had to use any road treatment material and should have a sufficient supply for whatever Mother Nature throws at us.
