Highway trauma: A medical helicopter begins its landing approach onto Highway 136 near the Big Creek bridge following a collision involving a Volkswagen Beetle, right, and a pickup truck on the bridge. The helicopter transported a teenage Bethany girl to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City following the accident. Two other teenagers in the car and the truck driver were taken by NTA ambulance to Harrison County Community Hospital.
A Volkswagen Beetle, occupied by three Bethany teenagers, pulled into the wrong lane of traffic and collided head-on with a pickup truck on Friday afternoon on the Big Creek bridge, southwest of Bethany, causing a heart-rending Easter weekend for several local families.
