Jerry Wiechman, fishery biologist for the Missouri Department of Conservation, describes some of the fish that inhabit the Harrison County Lake during Kids’ Fishing Lake, sponsored by local law enforcement agencies. More than 150 children received free fishing poles during the third annual event at the lake. Wiechman displayed some of the fish that he collected at the lake, including a 30-pound catfish. The fishing jetty at the Harrison County Lake was filled with anglers, young and older, during the Kid’s Fishing Day at the Lake on Saturday morning. Missouri conservation department fishery biologist Gary Wiechman, holds up a 30-pound catfish that was pulled from the Harrison County Lake during a shocking operation at the lake designed to show children the different species in the lake. A catfish was released back into the lake unharmed.
