Bethany, MO: An investigator for the State Fire Marshal’s Office speaks to firemen and others gathered at the back of The Pit Stop convenience store in Ridgeway that was heavily damaged in a Monday afternoon fire. The fire originated in the back of the building and was determined to be accidental involving the electrical service.
Scott Boswell, who was working on the new community center under construction across the street from The Pit Stop, noticed smoke coming from the back of the building at about 1:45 p.m. Monday and alerted authorities. The Ridgeway Fire District, located next to the convenience store, quickly brought the fire under control. The Bethany and North Harrison Fire District also sent trucks to the scene. Ridgeway experienced an electrical outage during the fire. A crew from KCP&L were on the scene restoring power at the sub-station just east of The Pit Stop.–Republican-Clipper photo
