Flooded neighborhood: Water from Big Creek backed up to homes along Factory Street in northwest Bethany following the nearly six-inch rainfall last week. The ground was already saturated from previous rains and didn’t leave the runoff any where to go.
A nearly unprecedented series of rains last week sent Buck’s Branch and Big Creek out of their banks on Wednesday, forcing the evacuation of homes in northwest Bethany and closing streets and highways.
Highway 69, north of One-Stop, was turned into a raging river forcing authorities to close the highway briefly after a car got caught in the flood.
