Missing a friend: Lisa Tharp pets the chin of her miniature horse “Jake, the Wonder Horse,” while out in the corral feeding her stable. Describing her horses as family oriented, Lisa said the other horses in the corral seem to be feeling the absence of their friend, Quigley, at feeding time.
Steve and Lisa Tharp of Bethany feel that they had lost a member of the family last Sunday after they discovered their miniature horse Quigley dead in their pasture near the fairgrounds.
The Tharps have raised horses—most of them rescue ponies—on their property along Beekman Street for the past several years. They operate a horseshoeing business with clients throughout the Midwest when they aren’t working their horses.
