An ordinance accepting a nearly $250,000 grant from the state under the Safe Routes to School program was rejected Tuesday night by the Bethany City Council. The grant would have built a sidewalk along the west side of the 39th Street extension from Bartlett Street to Bulldog Avenue. Council members Randy Brejnik and Charlie Crabtree voted against accepting the grant, while Randy Mann and Lance Johns voted in favor of the grant. The ordinance required a majority vote of approval.
