The Bethany City Council gave preliminary approval Monday night to a fire department recommendation to purchase a used pumper truck from a small community in Iowa.
The council approved a motion by Councilman Charlie Crabtree to place a $3,500 deposit on a 1994 Toyne fire truck owned by Roland, Iowa. Fire Chief David Kinnison, deputy Chief Tyson Martin and mechanic Paul Gard traveled to Roland and found the truck to be in excellent condition with only 149 hours on the pump meter.
