Captain Donald D. Burton, Ret., 88, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on October 1, 2021.

Don was born in Bethany, Missouri, and he and his family resided in both Harrison County and Clay County throughout his entire life.  After he graduated from Bethany High School in 1951, he served proudly in the U. S. Army during the Korean War.  Upon completion of his military duty, he began his career with the Kansas City Fire Department and retired with over 38 years of dedicated service.

Donald was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Betty L. (Vetter) Burton and his sister, Deva Marrs.

Don’s survivors include his fiancé, Bonnie Longstreet; his children, Terry (Debbi) Burton, Gayla Burton, and Dean (Leslie) Burton; his brother, Kenneth (Lou) Burton; in-laws, Doris McNutt, Carol Boudreau, and Wayne (Barb) Vetter as well as extended family and friends.

Services will be 10 AM, Saturday, October 23, 2021, at White Chapel Funeral Home with visitation 6-8 PM, Friday; interment will be in White Chapel Cemetery.
