A glimpse at the past: The Ristine Hotel, which included an opera house, was a landmark in downtown Cainsville in the early part of the last century. It was torn down in 1986.
Cainsville’s unique history as an old coal-mining town and as a refuge for immigrants from war-torn Central Europe will be celebrated on Saturday, Oct. 5, at the second annual Heritage Day.
The community will have events and exhibits all day long featuring guided tours of historical sites and an antique tractor display.
