A crane stands ready to begin removing the old East Fork of Big Creek bridge on West Main Street. The Boone Construction Company of Columbia received the $1 million contract to replace the bridge with a concrete structure under the state’s BRO bridge program. The state will pay 80% of the cost of the project while the city of Bethany, the county and Bethany Township will share the other expense. Boone plans to have the project completed by May.
