Bethany, MO: In the late 1920’s Ridgeway Merchants had a salaried baseball team that no doubt inspired boys to form a Big Creek team in later years.
Marilyn and Fred Flesher provided the following information about the history of baseball in the Ridgeway area, as related by the late Floyd Tuggle. He played ball from 1928 through 1929 for the Ridgeway Methodist baseball team. He played for the Ridgeway High School team and from 1931 through 1935 and from 1930 through 1937 he played on the Big Creek baseball team. He later played on the Bethany Pirates Ban Johnson League team and the Grant Township softball team. While serving in the Army in World War II, he played on the A Company 140 infantry softball team.
