When the city bowed to an insurance company’s demand by scrapping the park’s merry-go-round, Bethany historian Mark Irvin was incensed and began a Facebook campaign to salvage the park’s 100-year-old ride.
That paid off last week when Barry Jennings of Toot-Toot Restaurant bought the bright yellow equipment from the scrap dealer. Irvin said he hopes that the city will move the ride back to the park as a historical exhibit that had been enjoyed by generations of kids.
