BETHANY, MO: Bethany’s popular LED streetlight program will be brought into some residential neighborhoods under next year’s electric program which was adopted Monday night by the City Council.
The council approved a recommendation by Electric Superintendent Kenny Robertson to request R/S Electric of St. Joseph to prepare engineering on a project to install more LED lights during the next year. The lights use LED technology that provides better illumination and energy savings.
The lighting program has received compliments from local residents who appreciate the brighter lights along streets where they have already been installed. The LED street lights would be installed along Timothy Terrace and Ranchwood Road in Countryside East, the Broyles Addition and Daily Road in the Daily Addition.
The residential lighting will be mounted on 28- to 30-foot poles.
R/S Electric recently installed new LED light poles along 41st Street from Casey’s to the Farm Service Agency office north of Bulldog Avenue. Motorists were surprised at the amount of light coming from the new lights along a road which previously had limited street lighting.
The electric contractor has made preparations for installing new LED streetlights along 25th Street from Oakland to Bulldog Avenue and the park road from the aquatic center to Bulldog.
