Members of the Beta Phi Masters sorority gather at the Bethany Chamber of Commerce office to prepare prize eggs on the Easter Egg Hunt to be held on April 3 at the Bethany Memorial Park, starting at 10 a.m. The event requires more than 2,000 prize eggs to be filled and labeled. Pictured here are BJ Jones, Alice Hammond, Linda Thomas, Opal Ramey, Gerry Ann Wagner, Karen Wooderson, Andrea Puls, Marsha Weller, Sharon Kelim, Linda Drew, Terry Wagler and friends Lori Luellen, Langston Wagner and Janice Rose. Last Thursday, after a year of abstaining from gathering due to COVID-19 and now most having received vaccinations, the organization gathered to fill the eggs. Brian Carter, president of the Chamber, said the sorority completed 1,100 of the eggs on Thursday and a second sorority has made plans to help this week. Local merchants have donated prizes for the event.
“Our local merchants, and members have a vested interest in our community as many of them not only own businesses locally, but they live here,” Carter said.
