Impassable: A road serving a sawmill has become mired down in mud during the spring thaw. Owners of a sawmill served by the road has asked Dallas Township for gravel to repair the road. Officials said heavy trucks going to and from the sawmill have worsened the problem.
Dallas Township board members met with residents of the Amish community last Wednesday night over concerns about the condition of a road near their new sawmill.
This is a problem in most townships which have to deal with gravel disappearing into mud when the roads began to thaw after one of the most severe winters in recent years. It has been particularly difficult for Dallas Township northwest of Martinsville with one of the smallest budgets among the county’s 20 townships.
