Republican-Clipper photo A long tradition: Ladies from the First Christian Church in Bethany display Chrismons, ornaments that are placed on the traditional tree in the sanctuary of the church. In 1991, the late Opal Carson and then-pastor Rev. John Burton introduced the multi-year Chrismon Project for Advent. The ornaments were patterned from the First Christian Church of Kilgore, Texas. Each Chrismon represents an aspect of God’s work in Jesus Christ. Pictured, from left to right, are Wilma Hall, Ilene Smith, Carol Williams and Anita Milligan.
