Getting closer: A concrete pump truck pours the new barrier for the race track at the Northwest Missouri State Fairgrounds. The wall will provide protection for spectators on the ground level of the grandstands. This year’s fair will open on Thursday, Aug. 31, and will run through Labor Day weekend.
