A young couple wanted for the Jan. 1st murder of an Independence, Mo., man were believed hiding out at a New Hampton residence for a period of time after the murder, according to Sheriff Josh Eckerson. Local law officers obtained a warrant to search an apartment in New Hampton, where the couple reportedly had been staying for about three days after the murder. Highway Patrol officers, sheriff’s officers and the Bethany police had conducted a search for the suspects on Wednesday evening based upon reports that they had been in the area. Breanna Marrott, 26, and Darryl Schaeffel, 24, both of Independence, were arrested in Warsaw, Mo. Local law officers obtained a warrant to search an apartment in New Hampton, but they had already left New Hampton. Two New Hampton residents living in the apartment were arrested on drug charges, according to the sheriff’s department.
