Facing the possibility of mass resignations of volunteer firefighters, the Bethany City Council reversed action that it had taken Monday night to replace Fire Chief Jacob Denum.
City Administrator Jan Hagler and City Attorney Cristine Stallings had resigned earlier in the meeting in protest of action taken, on a 3-2 vote, by the mayor and council to relieve Denum.
