Gracie Sharon Corlett, 64 of Cainsville, MO passed away Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Liberty Hospital, Liberty, MO.

She was born December 26, 1951 to Ora Kyle (McQuerry) and Sherman Ward. They preceded her in death.

Gracie worked at Lambert Manufacturing for several years. On March 4, 1968 she married Jim Hunt who preceded her in death on August 2, 1973.

On November 7, 1980 Gracie married Doug Corlett of Cainsville. Together they lived on a farm outside of Cainsville raising cattle and farming the land. Gracie enjoyed gardening, flowers and going to the Farmer’s Market with Doug. They never had any human children but over the years they had many cats and dogs they loved like their children.

On May 8, 1993 Gracie suffered a massive heart attack causing a severe brain injury from the lack of oxygen. She spent several months in the hospital and in a rehab center. When Gracie was released, she returned home to Cainsville with Doug. Gracie was never the same but Doug took exceptional care of her. She may have spent some time off and on in the hospital throughout the years for minor illnesses but for the most part she was able to spend most of her time at home with Doug, even though she was unable to do for herself. Doug made sure he took care of her to the best of his ability and never stopped loving her and helped her enjoy the “normal” things in life.

This last bout of pneumonia took its toll on Gracie leading to her departure from this world on February 4, 2016 with Doug by her side.

In addition to her parents and first husband Jim, Gracie is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Charles and Cecil Ward; 1 sister, Pat Bridger; and a nephew, Ronnie Reed.

Survivors include her husband, Doug Corlett, of the home; sister, Shirley (Jim) Coss, Bethany, MO; brother, Terry (Julie) Ward, Norfolk, NE; half-brother, Gene Schmidt; brother-in-law, Ted Bridger; sister-in-law, Barbara Ward; nieces and nephews, Charlie Ann Simon, Jason Ward, Misty Ward, Roger Ward, Trish O’Connell, Jeramiah Ward, Chuck Reed; a couple of great nieces and nephews and one great-great nephew.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 8, at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial will follow in Zoar Cemetery, Cainsville, MO. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Zoar Cemetery in care of Roberson Funeral Home, PO Box 46, Bethany, MO 64424.
