Eagleville, MO: On April 17, 2023, Marilyn passed away at the age of 94 at the Albany, MO hospital. Marilyn was from Eagleville and then moved to Bethany after retirement. She was a resident of Pine View Manor in Stanberry, MO for 2 ½ years. Prior to that she resided at Crestview in Bethany, MO 5 years.

      Marilyn was the oldest of two children. She was born to Leonard and Mabel (Ballew) Hale of rural Eagleville on September 21, 1928. Her brother is Robert Eugene Hale.

She attended Hobbs School and Eagleville High School. After high school graduation, at the age of 17, she began her teaching career at White Oak School, a one-room school house in rural Eagleville. She taught five students that year of various ages and in different grades. She proudly received her first paycheck on her 18th birthday of $102.40. She taught each school year and also attended Northwest MO Teacher’s College in Maryville, MO every summer until graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 1963. She was a dedicated educator for over 30 years and retired in 1989 from teaching 6th grade at North Harrison Elementary School in Eagleville, MO.

     Marilyn met her husband, Bob, through friends at the Iowa State Fair. Robert D. (Bob) Jones and Marilyn were married June 21, 1953 at the Eagleville United Methodist Church. They had two children. Roger Kent Jones and Jana Beth Jones. Roger Kent was born December 4, 1956 and passed away at the age of 4 months. Jana Beth (Jones) Price was born August 8, 1958 and resides on a farm outside Bethany, MO.

     After retirement, Marilyn enjoyed staying busy. She wasn’t idle for very long at a time. She enjoyed hand-sewing projects, plastic canvas & felt work, canning homegrown garden vegetables, and especially working with flowers. If you drove by her home, you most likely would see Marilyn outside pulling weeds or improving her flowerbeds. Marilyn was a member of the Eagleville Christian Church.

     She was a beloved sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Preceding her in death were parents Leonard and Mabel Hale, infant son Roger Kent Jones and husband Robert D. (Bob) Jones.

     Survivors include: daughter Jana Price and husband Bob of Bethany; granddaughter Kristen Oesch and fiancé Allan Cook of Holts Summit, MO and Kristen’s three children Riley, Macey and Chase Oesch; grandson Brennen Price and wife Leslie of Bethany and their two children Mason and Ava; brother Robert Eugene Hale of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  

     The family will hold a Memorial Service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 22 at Prairie Chapel Church, East of Bethany, MO. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date in Masonic Cemetery, Eagleville, MO. Memorials may be made to the Bethany Public Library and/or Eagleville Masonic Cemetery for upkeep in care of Roberson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 46, Bethany, MO 64424.
