Bethany, MO: Alma Jane Simpson, 103, Bethany, MO went to be with her Heavenly Father on March 28, 2023, at her daughterâs home in Edgerton, MO.
She was born on March 16, 1920, in Ridgeway, MO to Hubert Thomas and Helen Mae (Wolfe) Bridge. She was the second of five children.
Alma was raised in the Ridgeway community. She loved going to school. Math was her favorite subject. She always talked about the long walks to and from school, but she didnât mind.
After she attended school, she would help work the fields and do whatever was asked of her from her parents.
On April 8, 1939, Alma was united in marriage to Paul Wilmore Simpson. To this union three daughters were born: Beverly Ann, Patricia Sue and Iola Mae. Paul preceded her in death in 1993.
She was a hard worker. She was a waitress, worked at the Reid Clinic as a cook, the cap factory in Pattonsburg, and retired from Lambertâs manufacturing company in Bethany.
Alma was a caregiver to all family and friends who needed assistance after an illness or a hospital stay.
She enjoyed her trip to Hawaii, the many trips to Florida, camping trips to Stockton Lake and cruises. Attending sports activities, school programs, and grandparent days with her many grandchildren and great grandchildren was always a highlight of her day.
Alma was baptized in 1950 at the First Baptist Church of Bethany, MO by the Reverend Orville Rinehart. She was still a member until her death. Alma loved reading the bible and attending worship services when she was able.
She was caring, loving, giving, and grateful for everything. She never wanted for more. She loved her family unconditionally and she will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Beverly Tilley; grandsons, Mark, Matt, and Jim Chamberlin; two great grandchildren, Josh Eckerson and Rachel Jordan; great-great grandchild, Maddox Wilson; brothers, Carlos, Bill, and Bobby Bridge; sister-in-law, Thelma Bridge; brother-in-law, Phil Riggins; and three sons-in-law, Bill Tilley, Doug Tripp and Ed Chamberlin.
Alma is survived by her daughters, Pat Tripp, Edgerton, MO and Iola Chamberlin, Ridgeway, MO; sister, Ilene Riggins, Chillicothe, MO; sister-in-law, Betty Bridge; seven grandchildren, Terry Wilson, Debbie (Chuck) Reed, Greg Wilson, Larry (Jo Lynn) Tripp, Teresa Tripp, Serena (Mike) Nixon, and Luke (Christina) Chamberlin; 11 great grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren and one more on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 3 at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Ridgeway, MO. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
