Grant City, MO: Dale Mitchell, a veteran of the Army Air Force during World War II, died Sunday evening at a nursing home in Grant City.
Mr. Mitchell spent several months in the German prison camp after his bomber was shot down during a mission over Austria. His parents did not learn that he was alive until the final days of the war.
His death came at the end of Veterans Weekend. He had participated in several ceremonies in Bethany in recent years.
