Sara Louise Skroh age 43 passed away on December 27, 2021 surrounded by her family.  She was born in Leon, IA, on August 1, 1978 to Roger and Vanya (Carothers) Skroh.  She graduated second in her class from Cainsville High School in 1996.  She graduated from Missouri Western State College in 2001. While at Missouri Western, in the year 2000, she participated in an internship at NASA optimizing their websites for visually disabled people.  Sara also earned two master’s degrees from Colorado Technical University in 2005 and 2006.  In 2006 she went to Little Rock, Arkansas for an 11-month training program during which she became involved with First Assembly of God North Little Rock and upon completion of her training program she took a job at Northrup Grumman in Little Rock to be able to stay involved with her church.  

When Sara was four years old, she suffered a brain tumor that left her totally blind in her left eye and 20/1000 vision in her right eye and caused severe damage to her pituitary gland causing her to rely on hormone drugs the rest of her life.  

Sara accepted Jesus Christ as her savior at a children’s crusade in 1987.  However, it was not until her 27th birthday while taking a break from college she decided to rededicate her life to Christ and attended church at both the Cainsville United Methodist Church and the Cainsville Assembly of God.  She eventually transferred her membership to the Assemblies of God and remained active in whatever ministry that she could.  

Despite her disability, Sara was very independent.  When she in her preteen and teen years Sara attended the Lion’s Club Kids Kamp at Lake Viking even serving one year as a counselor.  As a youngster Sara was a Girls Scout and a member of the Grand River 4-H Club.  In High School she was in National Honor Society, Academic Bowl and the French Club

Though she often spent long periods of time away from home because of schooling or work, Sara loved coming home to spend time with her family during the 4th of July and at Christmas.  For 35 years plus she walked in the Pleasanton 4th of July Parade, most of those with her brother Bart.  She loved to be around her family. When home, she enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, and board games with her loved ones.  

In total Sara spent 15 years in the Little Rock Area. She worked at Northrup Grumman for 12 of those years then she worked as part of a vending program for the blind at the Little Rock Federal Building.    She became fast friends with dozens of people through her very active involvement with several ministries in her church.  In 2016, Sara joined Celebrate Recovery at First NLR and became a key leader in that ministry participating in the starting up of two additional Celebrate Recovery groups in the North Little Rock area.  

In addition to being involved in in church, Sara was an active member of PEO, multiple times attending the state convention.  Sara was also a member of the Cainsville American Legion Auxiliary.  

In January of 2020, Sara became an aunt and was thrilled to pieces with Karen’s little girl Michael Joy.  

Sara was preceded by in death by her grandfathers, Wallace Skroh and Gordon Carothers, and grandmothers, Betty (Harrold) Skroh and Kathyrn (Sweeten) Carothers. 

She is survived by parents Roger and Vanya Skroh, Sister Karen Skroh, brother, Bart Skroh, Aunt Diane Cornett, Uncle Michael Carothers, niece Michael Joy Matthews and many cousins.  

Services under the direction of Stoklasa Memorial Chapel, Cainsville are 1:30 pm,  January 5, 2022 at the Cainsville Assembly of God Church with burial in the Bohemian Cemetery, Cainsville. Family visitation 12:30 to 1:30 pm at the church. Memorial gifts to CR First NLR, 4500 W Commercial Drive, North Little Rock, AR 72116. Tributes may be left at www.bethanymemorialchapel.com
