An event that had an impact on the lives of every Harrison County resident living at the time occurred 80 years ago last Tuesday when Japanese forces bombed Pearl Harbor, thus beginning our war against Japan and her allies Germany and Italy.
The attack was reported on the front page of the Republican-Clipper on the following Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1941, under the headline “HARRISON FIGHTERS ON BOMBED ISLAND; NO WORD RECEIVED.”
