Missouri history on display: Alan Shetka, a tourism center employee from Coffey, Mo., answers questions about some of the figures portrayed in the glass mosaic in the lobby of the Eagleville Welcome Center. Some of the prominent persons displayed to the left are Coleman Hawkins, the jazz saxophonist who was born in St. Joseph, and Jesse James, who was born in Kearney, Mo., and met his demise in St. Joseph. Thousands of travelers visit the tourist information center each month, many on their way to Branson.

Thousands of visitors to Missouri have been awed by the giant glass mosaic in the lobby of the Missouri Welcome Center on I-35, north of Eagleville.
