Bethany, MO: Robert N. Stratton, 84, Bethany, MO, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at NorthCare Hospice House in North Kansas City, MO.
He was born on October 20, 1936 in McFall, Missouri the son of Henry Marvin and Bernice Marie (Thompson) Stratton.
On November 21, 1959 he married Frances Clark.
Robert was a graduate of McFall High School in 1954. After high school he worked at a garage in McFall and worked on the family farm. In October of 1959 he went to work for Jim and Winnie Forbis, at Independent Auto Supply in Bethany. Robert became manager of Independent Auto Supply when it was purchased by two owners from Kansas City. In 1971 Robert and Gathyl Hibbs purchased the business. In 1989 Gathyl sold out to Robert and Fred Spence. After Fred Spenceās death in 1998, the business was owned by Robert. In 1999 Robert sold the business to OāReilly Auto Parts and retired.
Robert was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Previously he was a member of First Baptist Church of Bethany where he served as a deacon and treasurer for several years. He also served on various committees, was a Sunday School teacher and worked in childrenās church. Robert served for many years on the Bethany Park Board, the Northwest Missouri State Fair Board, and was president of Harrison County Little League.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Marie; brothers, Lowell, Wayne, Paul and M.O., and sisters, Virginia Salmon and Joyce Ross.
Robert is survived by his wife of 61 years, Frances, of the home; two children, Jeanna Stratton, Bethany, MO, and Clark (Beth) Stratton, Leeās Summit, MO; three grandchildren, Henry (Anna) Stratton, Leeās Summit, MO, Elizabeth (Tanner) Butler, Omaha, NE, and Maggie, Leeās Summit, MO; one sister, Norma Lindsay, St Joseph, MO, and three brothers, Stanley Stratton, St Joseph, MO, George Stratton and Eddie Stratton, Kansas City, MO.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 6 at Immanuel Baptist Church, Bethany, MO under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial will follow in Miriam Cemetery, Bethany, MO. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3:00 p.m. Saturday at the church where social distancing will be observed and masks are required for attendance.
