Reba Mae (Janes) Skinner, 96, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at the Living Center in Marshall, MO.
Reba was born on January 8, 1924 in Yarrow, MO, the daughter of Earl and Ethel (Hunsaker) Janes. After Ethel’s passing, Reba was adopted by Henry and Bertha Lambert on October 25, 1926 in North Salem, MO. She attended North Salem School and was a member of the North Salem Church. She was baptized on September 15, 1933 in Yellow Creek by Floyd M. Tayler. Her dad Henry called her “Bill”. She liked riding her pony when she was a little girl. Her mother always told her that she was lucky that she was able to pick Reba.
On September 18, 1941 Reba married Oral Eldon Riddle. To this union they were blessed with four children, Donald, Kathie, Roy, and Marty. After their marriage ended, she married Truman Shepard. After Truman’s passing, Reba married Charles F. Skinner on February 7, 1981 in Chillicothe, MO.
Through the years Reba worked at Barron Turkey Farm in Winigan, MO, Stampers Processing Company in Milan, MO, Ben Franklin Store in Milan, MO, and P.N. Hirsch’s in Chillicothe, MO.
She was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Chillicothe, MO and transferred to Brunswick First Christian Church in Brunswick, MO. Reba loved to paint pictures and would periodically take her paint, brushes, and canvases to the Brunswick Nursing Home to teach the residents how to paint. She loved playing cards, the casino, scratch off tickets, fishing, her lake property, listening to music, singing, playing music, reading the Bible, and she loved spending time with her family and friends, often cooking for them.
Survivors include three children, Kathie Knight of Rockford, Il, Roy (Connie) Riddle of Bethany, MO, and Marty (Kent) Lehnhoff of Osceola, MO; one daughter-in-law, Mary Riddle of Brunswick, MO; nine grandchildren, Michelle (Mitch) Monnig of Columbia, MD, Donald Riddle Jr of Columbia, MO, Paula (Troy) Jackson, Beth (Jeremy) Charlton, David (Laura) Knight all of Rockford, Il, Christi (Ronnie) Miles of Mt. Moriah, MO, Amy Dozier of St. Joseph, MO, John (Karla) Moore of Chillicothe, MO, and Rusty (Destinee) Moore of Lebanon, MO; 21 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Janes and Ken (Sharon) Janes; one sister, Dorothy Logan, and numerous other extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Ethel Janes and Henry and Bertha Lambert; her husbands, Oral Eldon Riddle, Truman Shepard, and Charles Skinner; her son, Donald Ray Riddle Sr; two brothers, Bill Janes and Jim Janes; and two sons-in-law, Carl Moore and Douglas Knight.
A private graveside service was held on Monday, April 20, 2020 at North Salem Cemetery in North Salem, MO.
Pallbearers were John Moore, Rusty Moore, Donnie Riddle Jr, Ronnie Miles, Nate Riddle, Colton Moore, and Tanner Dozier.
