Christopher Lynn Klindt, 68, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at his home in Lawrence, Kan. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle.
He was born on May 11, 1951 in Bethany, Mo., the son of Ernest Lyle and Ruby Genevieve (Flynn) Klindt.
Chris received the highest award in the Boy Scouts of America, that of Eagle Scout, which was conferred upon him by the Pony Express Council on May 16, 1966 at the First Baptist Church in Bethany, Mo.
After graduating from South Harrison R-II High School, Bethany, Mo. in 1969, he attended and graduated from United Electronics Institute (UEI) in Kansas City, Missouri.
He started cuemaking with Mike Kinder in 1992. In 1995, Chris opened his own cuemaking business, Klick Custom Cues. He continued to make beautiful one-of-a-kind custom cues until 2008. His cues were a work of art. In addition to his cuemaking, he also enjoyed making children’s furniture, puzzles, and toys.
His interests through the years have been taking things apart and putting them back together again. One of his early projects was taking apart and putting back together an old crank telephone. He was proud of the fact that he never had any leftover pieces. Working with his hands and brain has always been important to him. He also enjoyed fly-fishing, rocking in his chair, and cooking, especially taking apart a recipe scientifically and tweaking it to make it better.
During his adult life, he has worked at Motorola in Illinois; King Radio in Olathe, Kan.; Sunflower Ammunition Plant in DeSoto, Kan.; Allen Press in Lawrence, Kan.; and ATK Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, Mo.
He married (1) Susan (Haulmark) Smithers on May 2, 1975 in Olathe, Kan. and was divorced on May 1, 1994 in Lawrence, Kan.. He married (2) Cheri (Criss) Davin on March 23, 1996.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Ruby Klindt; his sister, Katherine Ann Klindt; and his son, Jason Lyle Klindt.
In addition to his wife, Cheri, of the home, Chris is survived by a son, Michael B. (Britt) Klindt, of Topeka, Kan.; a granddaughter, Sheridan Klindt of Lawrence, Kan.; a great granddaughter, Myla Klindt Santulli of Lawrence, Kan.; a sister, Peggy (Klindt) Taylor of Kansas City, Mo.; a niece, Kelly (Jason) Iezzi of Kansas City, Mo.; and a nephew, Joseph Taylor of Lee’s Summit, Mo.
Chris has been cremated under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, Mo.
Memorial services were October 7, at Roberson Funeral Home in Bethany, Mo. Inurnment will be at a later date in Antioch Cemetery, Bethany, Mo.
