James Donald “Don” King, 82, Bethany, MO (formerly of Cainsville, Mo.) passed away Saturday, June 29, 2019 at his home in Bethany, Mo.

Don was born January 9, 1937 to Ernest “Pete” and Lucille (Smith) King. They lived in Pleasantville, Iowa for several years until Don’s senior year of high school, when they moved to rural Ridgeway where Don still raised cattle and a nice garden until his passing. He completed high school in Ridgeway in 1955 and joined the Marine Corp. After serving four years, he was discharged and moved back to the home place.

On November 3, 1960, he married Carole Stewart. Carole preceded him in death on April 8, 1988.

Don farmed, drove a truck and worked as a mechanic over the years.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.

On June 14, 2003, he married Darlene Heldenbrand. She survives of the home.

Don is also survived by his daughters, Barbara (Rodney) Thompson, Clinton, Okla. and Lisa (William) Cain, Cainsville, Mo.; son, Jim (Charlotte) King, Carroll, Iowa; 10 grand children; 14 great grandchildren; step children, Chris (Peggy) Heldenbrand, Debbie (Ralph) Ray, Marsha (Cliff) Bailey and Russell (Debbie) Heldenbrand; 14 step grandchildren and 33 step-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 3 at the First Baptist Church, Cainsville, Mo. under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, Mo. Burial with Military Rites will follow in the Zoar Cemetery, Cainsville, Mo.
