Bethany, MO: Robert “Bob” Moore Galloway, 80, departed this earthly life to enter into eternal life on May 5, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.

     He was born March 27, 1939 in Bethany, Missouri. After high school he joined the Army and attended basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. He was transferred to Europe in one of the Army’s largest peacetime deployments overseas. Galloway was an aircraft electrician in the 152nd Transportation Detachment in Hanau, Germany. He was a decorated sharp shooter, Expert (M14 Rifle).

     After his return from the service, Bob was introduced to the love of his life, Louisa and they married August 11, 1965. He worked for Allis-Chalmers and then went on to start the first of several service stations in the Kansas City area before moving to Bethany and opening Skelly Truck Stop. Robert truly exemplified the spirit of American ingenuity. He had many business ventures including Bob’s Auto Sales, Galloway Enterprises, Skelly Gas, Galloway Farms and Bethany Solid Waste. After retiring from the garbage business in 1995, he and Louise enjoyed life to the fullest, traveling the world and island hopping in the West Indies and Caribbean selling books for Gumdrop. They enjoyed being “Winter Texans.”

     Robert was a pool shark in his youth and was known as “one and done”. He was also an avid bowler and golfer with a long time membership at the Bethany Country Club. He was a member of the Freemasons and The American Legion.

      Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Moss and Opal (Frame) Galloway; his wife, Louisa Maria (Ortiz) Galloway; four sisters, Martha Lou Bauer, Linda Jo Goreham, Jean Ann Heuerman, and Minni Graham; and daughter, Sophia Bennett.

     Survivors left to remember him fondly are his brother, John (Sandy) Galloway, Holden, MO; two sisters, Nancy (Denny) Wohlgemuth, Platte City, MO and Lana Brooks-Witry, Platte City, MO; his two daughters, Heather Dawn (John Taylor) Galloway-Taylor, Kansas City, MO and Stephanie (Roger Campbell) Galloway, Blue Springs, MO; son, Frank (Robin) Galloway, Kansas City, MO; Grandchildren, Philip (Jessica Long) Galloway, Andrea (Aaron Abbington) Polley, Hailey Comer, Ashley (Mark) Waisner, Austin Galloway, Dakota Bennett, Sarah Galloway, Selena Galloway, and Jacob Rodina Jr.; Great-Grandchildren, Taylar Huffman, Mariah Galloway, Mason Galloway, Nevaeha Robinson, Detroyt Bradley, Gabrielle Langfitt, Sophia Bexley Jo Comer, and Saywer Waisner; as well as many nieces and nephews from both his and Louise’s large extended family. Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He will be missed dearly.

     Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 18 at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Inurnment with Military Rites will follow in Miriam Cemetery, Bethany, MO.
