A race developed for the office of Bethany mayor last week when former mayor Joe Johnson and retired city administrator Jonne Slemons both filed as candidates for the office at City Hall.
Johnson had let it be known to friends in recent days that he was interested in returning to the mayor’s office after serving two previous times.
