Marsha Lyn Fitzgerald, 56, of Claycomo, MO passed away surrounded by her family on August 29, 2018.
She was the youngest of three children born to Ed and Eileen Fitzgerald on March 14, 1962. Her older brother and sister are Mark Fitzgerald and Marla Langeneckert.
She attended special schools through 1982 and worked at the Liberty Work Shop until 2005. She had a special provider, Lydia Helmer, from 2009-2013, and enjoyed swimming, going to thrift stores and collecting troll dolls with Lydia. These activities continued with other Preferred Healthcare providers when Marsha moved into an apartment in June 2014. After her hospital stay in July 2018 her providers came to her Mother’s home each day for activities with Marsha. She attended Winnwood Baptist Church most of her life and special classes held by Kelly Davenport at Winnwood. From 2013 to March of 2018, she rode horses at Northland Therapeutic Riding Center near Holt, MO each week. Marsha had an excellent memory and never forgot the names and faces of those she had known.
Marsha is preceded in death by her father, Ed, with whom she shared the same birthday and a love of Johnny Cash music.
She is survived by her Mother, Eileen; sister, Marla Langeneckert and husband Joe; brother, Mark Fitzgerald and wife Ester; and two nephews, Jonathan and Jason Fitzgerald.
We would like to thank all those who helped with Marsha’s illness the past few weeks, especially the Preferred Healthcare providers and the Kansas City Hospice workers, Dawn Hand, Tina, Kristen and other hospice staff who provided care.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 2:00pm, with visitation one hour prior at Winnwood Baptist Church. Burial following at Terrace Park Cemetery. The family suggest contributions be made to Clay-Platte ARC.
