LIBERTY, MO: Ruby Elaine Cox, 90, Liberty, MO (formerly of Bethany, MO) passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018 at a Kansas City, MO nursing home.
She was born May 6, 1927 in Bethany, MO the daughter of Robert L. and Ruth (Robbins) Turpin.
On August 31, 1947 she married Charles Cox. He preceded her in death on July 6, 2000.
Ruby worked as a manager for Singer Sewing Machine Company for many years. She was known as the “African Violet Lady” and attended the African Violet Convention and was also a judge for the flower shows. She grew several violets at her home.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Francis, John, and Gilbert Turpin; infant sister, Clara; sister, Roberta Wilkinson; daughter, Christine Ann Hentzen; son, Mark Randall Cox; and grandson, Michael Wilson.
Ruby is survived by her sons, Rob Cox, Kansas City, MO, Larry Scott (Shellie) Cox, Belton, MO; daughter, Terrie Carr, Ellsworth, KS; son-in-law, Victor Hentzen, Liberty, MO; 9 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 23 at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial will follow in Miriam Cemetery, Bethany, MO. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
