BETHANY, MO: Shirley Lou Taggart-Pottorff, 87, passed away November 24, 2016 in Bethany, MO.
Shirley was born at Eagleville, MO on July 14, 1929 to Gale and Doris Craig. She married Robert Allen in 1947 and to this union two children were born; Deborah Gayle (Stan) Snead and Robert Wayne (Shauna) Allen. On November 24, 1971, Shirley married Orville Taggart and after his passing in 1990, married Orveal Pottorff, both of whom preceded her in death.
In addition to her children and spouses, Shirley is survived by two grandsons, Dr. Greg Snead and Jason (Cassy) Allen and one granddaughter, Robin (Dylan) Hogan, two great-grandsons, Mason Allen and Finley Hogan and four great-granddaughters, Raegan and Hattie Hogan and Kinlee and Paislee Allen. Shirley loved all of her family dearly and notably spent many hours caring for Wayne after he was in a serious auto accident. Shirley had many friends and was especially thankful for the many years of friendship and help from Connie Butler. She also dearly loved her little poodle âPuffâ. Shirley was a lover of beauty in all forms and enjoyed gardening, flowers, trees, crafts, quilts, and antiques. In recognition of her efforts, Shirley was profiled in an article in American Country Collectibles for âA Lifetime of Collectingâ.
She was a founding member of the Hemerocallis Society, and was a member of the Hostas Society and African Violet Society. Shirley was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bethany.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 26, at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial will follow in Miriam Cemetery, Bethany, MO. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests planting a tree or flowers in Shirleyâs memory.
