Bethany, MO:  Daniel Joe Greene, 70, of Bethany, MO passed away, May 28, 2024 after a long undiagnosed illness at his sister Diannie’s home where he had spent the last few days of his life.

     Daniel was born June 16, 1953 in Omaha, Nebraska.  He was the second son of Joe Paul and Willena May (Stanton) Greene.

     He was an avid outdoorsman.  He could out fish anyone and call in Tom turkeys with the best of them.  He shot several trophy deer and enjoyed playing golf.

     Dan worked as a insurance agent, electrician, plumber, farm hand and finally retired from Missouri Correctional Facility after 32 years of service.

     He was baptized at a young age and a member of New Harmony Baptist Church.  He attended Martinsville School and South Harrison High School, graduating in 1971.  He also attended criminal justice classes at NWMSC in St. Joseph, MO.

     Dan was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Gene Constable.

     He was divorced with no children but was blessed to have step-children, Erin Teel and Robert and Ashley Huffman who was active in his life.  His step-grandchildren, Madyson, Matthew and Jackson Huffman, called him “Papa” and he loved them like they were his own flesh and blood.  Other survivors are his brothers, Donald (Mary) and Dennis Greene; sister, Diannie Constable; nieces and nephews, Jaimie (Robert) Trussell, Lieuticia (Jesse) Summers, Brian (Heather) Constable, Julie (Dusty) Epperson and Lincoln Greene;  3 great-nieces and 5 great-nephews; life-time friends, Rick (Christy) Plymell, Dwight “Dewey” (Lynn) Heldenbrand and Steve (Donna) Selby and a host of golfing buddies, work pals, pool buddies, and childhood and school related friends.      Dan has been cremated under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO.  Inurnment will be held at a later date in Foster Cemetery, New Hampton, MO.  Memorials may be made to the Harrison County Hospice in care of Roberson Funeral Home, P.O.
