DAVENPORT — Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Jack D. Matson, 86, a resident of Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Friday, February 2, 2018, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1923 N. Fillmore St., Davenport. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. The family will greet friends Thursday, February 1, 2018, from 4 until 7 p.m. at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main St., downtown Davenport. There will be a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. that all are invited to attend. Jack passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018, at his home in Davenport.

Jack D. Matson was born January 11, 1932. in Harrison County, Missouri, a son of Jesse R. and Leona Blanche (Lovett) Matson. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Jack married Eileen Thies on February 19, 1977, in Davenport. He was previously married to Helen M. Goodall, who preceded him in death on November 13, 1975.

Jack was an insurance adjuster for American States Western Insurance for 32 years. After he retired, he worked at Hy-Vee Foods. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus 563 and American Legion Post 26.

Memorials may be made to Holy Family School or Church or Assumption High School.

Those left to honor Jack’s memory include his wife, Eileen Matson, and their children, Michael (Patricia) Matson, Davenport, Michele (Bob) Matson Kelly, Putnam Valley, New York, Patrick (Mindy) Thies, Cedar Rapids, Deborah (Tom) Weiman, Hampshire, Illinois, Mark (Betsy) Thies, Spokane, Washington, and Maureen (John) Vieth, Cedar Rapids; 19 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Helen M. Goodall-Matson; sister, Cora Mullen; and his other siblings. May they rest in peace.
