Remembering our veterans: Anne Graner of the American Legion Auxiliary reads a tribute to veterans as Tom McFall, right, lays a wreath on the veteran’s monument at Miriam Cemetery. The ceremony was held Saturday morning as part of the Wreaths Across America tribute that was held at cemeteries across the country. The events were held at the same time as the tribute at Arlington Cemetery in Arlington, Va. Dick Graner, left, sang the National Anthem to begin the ceremony. Veterans placing wreaths on the monument were Terry Polley, Randy Foster, Tyler McFall, Don Brown, Charlie Trump and Glen Harrold.
In her reading, Mrs. Graner pointed out that the nation owes its freedoms and its way of life to the military personnel who have served our nation around the world. Quoting from President Ronald Reagan, she said, “Freedom is only a generation away from extinction.” The nation needs to remain vigilant to protect our hard fought freedoms.
