BETHANY, MO: Margaret Jean Taggart, 84, Bethany, MO (formerly of Blue Ridge, MO) passed away Sunday, October 8, 2017 at a Bethany, MO nursing home.
She was born May 13, 1933 in rural Daviess County, MO the daughter of Sylvester J. and Mary Leah (Gusewelle) Ward.
On December 26, 1954 she married Bobby Gene Taggart at Primitive Baptist Church, Gilman City, MO. He survives of the home.
Jean was formerly employed by Harrison County Hospice, Harrison County DFS, Farm Bureau, and she taught school for 4 years. She was a member of the Harrison County Hospital Board, FHA Board in Harrison County, Gideon’s Auxiliary of Harrison County, Daughters of the American Revolution, Blue Ridge Christian Union Church, and also was a volunteer for the American Heart Association.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Marion Frances and Robert M. Ward.
She is also survived by her sons, Terry (Beverly) Taggart, Platte City, MO, Doug (Cathy) Taggart, Gilman City, MO; daughter, Beth (Rick) Ratliff, Bethany, MO; sister-in-law, Irma Ward, Harrisburg, IL; nieces Theresia (Philip) Smith, Houston, TX; 9 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.
Graveside Services and burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 14 in Fairview Cemetery, Bethany, MO under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and/or Harrison County Cancer Transportation Fund in care of Roberson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 46, Bethany, MO 64424.
