Wallace Leroy Lane, age 85, of rural Blythedale, Missouri, the son of Herbert James and Eva Wilburn (Petersen) Lane, was born in Harrison County, Missouri on March 15, 1931.  He passed away at the Lamoni Specialty Care Center in Lamoni, Iowa on Friday, February 17, 2017.

Wallace grew up in the Andover, Missouri area in Harrison County.  He attended the Downey School.  On February 11, 1951, at the Andover Church, Wallace and Dorothy Prather were united in marriage.  They started their life together living in a little house behind the Andover Church before moving to their current farm a year later.  They were blessed with four children, Larry, Marcia, Lonny, and Connie.

Wallace farmed his whole adult life.  He also worked at the Grant City, Missouri and Lamoni, Iowa livestock auctions.  He also was a horseman.  He loved his horses and trained them to ride and drive.  He and James Boswell trained their horses to cut cattle.  He loved to take his family on trail rides and to parades.

Wallace and Doris were members of the Decatur Restoration Church in Decatur City, Iowa, where he served as a deacon.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Herbert and Eva Lane; brother, Herman Lane and wife, Jackie, Gerald Lane; and sister, Donna Mae Lane.  Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Dorothy Lane; children, Larry and Rhonda Lane of Leon, Iowa, Marcia and Steve Bohall of Wellington, Missouri, Lonny and Traci Lane of Eagleville, Missouri, and Connie and Dana Wilcoxson of Eagleville; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren with one more on the way; brother, Ivan Lane and wife, Beth of the Andover, Missouri area, sisters-in-law, Lois Moe and husband, Bob of Independence, Missouri, Betty Schlotman of Independence, and Carolyn Davies of Chicago, Illinois; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held at the Eagleville Christian Church in Eagleville, Missouri at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2017, with Elders Steve Bohall and Jon Barney officiating.  Burial will be in the Andover Cemetery at a later date.  Arrangements were through the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home of Leon and Lamoni, Iowa.
