Nora Mae Drummond, 95, of Bethany, MO (formerly of Coffey, MO) passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Harrison County Community Hospital, Bethany, MO.

Nora was born on April 28, 1920 in Pattonsburg, MO the daughter of Ross and Susie (Smith) Lowrey. Nora’s parents, brother Roscoe Lowrey, sister, Grace (Lowrey) Staudinger and infant daughter Rosetta Kaye, preceded her in death.

On October 22, 1937, she married Leonard Drummond. They were happily married for 56 years. Leonard preceded her in death in 1993. To this union three daughters were born, Kaye, Glenda and Marie. Nora had three grandsons, Scot, Adam and James and six great grandchildren.

Nora attended school in Coffey, MO graduating in 1937. She was very proud of being the oldest graduate at the alumni banquet last year. Nora was a member of the Coffey Rebekah Lodge from 1946 until the lodge was closed. She was also a member of the Coffey Lions Club. Nora was an accomplished seamstress and quilter and enjoyed making afghans of many colors. She enjoyed watching the many activities of her kids, grandkids and great grandkids.

Nora worked at Lambert Manufacturing Company in Pattonsburg and Gallatin for several years. In 1966 she was appointed Post Master of the Coffey Post Office, a position she held for five years. She was a member of the Coffey Methodist Church for 70 years, serving as secretary for many of those years.

Survivors include daughters, Glenda (Gregg) Salmon, Albany, MO, G. Marie (Jim) Peters, Delray Beach, FL; grandsons, Scot (fiancé, Cindy Bernstein) Salmon, Houston, TX, Adam (Melanie) Salmon, Oak Grove, MO, James (Allison) Peters, Boston, MA; great-grandchildren, Abby and Zoe Salmon, Houston, TX, Mollea, Grady, Kinley, and Hadley Salmon, Oak Grove, MOand Isabel and Norah Bernstein , Kansas City, MO; brother-in-law, John W. (Doris) Drummond, Ankeny, IA; sister-in-law, Helen Murphey, Red Oak, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 11 at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial will follow in Coffey Cemetery, Coffey, MO. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
