South Harrison will dismiss class at 2:15 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18, because of road closures in Bethany during the funeral procession for Deputy Sheriff Brett Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins’ funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Immanuel Baptist Church. Burial will be in Miriam Cemetery. The sheriff’s department expects a large number of law officers from across the state to attend the service. Gov. Jay Nixon has ordered flags to fly at half staff on Friday in honor of Mr. Hawkins who was a county D.A.R.E. officer in addition to his law enforcement duties.
